Quarter Cloth. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. 56pp. No date. Boards rubbed and bumped, cloth grubby with small nick to middle of spine. 2 illyus. pages detached but extant, ink inscrips.t to ffep, the odd grubby mark within, else text clear, illus. bright. Size: 8vo Landscape.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. AUTHOR (illustrator). Red cloth quarter binding with illustrated paper covered boards, 205 x 240 mm approx. (Landscape format) 56 pp. Frontis + 11 other full colour plates with guards and numerous line drawings in text. New Edition Undated c.a.1885 by reference to ink gift insc. in that year to preliminary blank and copies listed on Copac. Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Good - heavy shelf wear to corners of boards with loss to paper at all edges, significant shelf soiling. Plain beige end papers sound but likely replacement - not recent. Ink gift insc. as above. Lacks one guard. Some finger soiling to a number of leaves and the occasional small marginal tear. Binding sound with no other notable defects).

Very nice copy of this lovely childrens book some pages frayed at the edges in the main a Very NICE BRIGHT copy 48pp e-mail for details Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" Thin. Not Inscribed or Signed.

Fine Asprey full leather binding (most likely executed by Sangorski and Sutcliffe or Zaehnsdorf), with gilt titles to the spine, a replica of the internal illustration of the Field Marshal in inlayed coloured leather, marbled end papers, all page edges gilt, gently tanned throughout, text block tight. Pagination: unpaginated with 24 colour illustrations as called for with 24 pages of text to accompany and paper guards. Provenance: no signatures or bookplates. Approximately 10 ½ inches (26.5cm) tall. Condition Report Externally Spine - very good condition - gilt titles to the spine, minor marks. Joints - very good condition - sound. Corners - very good condition - gently worn. Boards - very good condition - red morocco boards with inlayed leather decoration of the Field Marshal to the front board, gently rubbed, marked and worn. Page edges - good condition - all edges gilt. Binding - very good condition - attractive. See above and photos. Internally Hinges - very good condition - sound. Paste downs - very good condition - patterned. End papers - very good condition - patterned, tanned subsequently. Title - good condition - gently tanned, closed tear to the top of the page. Front inner hinge and spine ends neatly repaired, still a very good(+) clean copy.
