Haut du dos avec manque, coins un peu émoussés. Manque page de titre et avertissement, manque la carte. Sinon ouvrage en très bon état avec un papier bien blanc. Après avoir consulté un exemplaire de l'EO de 1706, nous avons pu vérifier que le notre est de la 2e edition de 1707 - il n'y a eu que 2 éditions). 11B5 450g.

Carte dépliante ( 19 x 14 cm ) gravée de l'île de HVEN ( d'après Willem BLAEU ). Rousseurs passim, bel exemplaire bien relié, la carte est très fraîche, en parfait état.Récit détaillé d'un diplomate au service de la Grande-Bretagne, témoin oculaire du Danemark. L'île de HVEN, située dans le détroit, devint suédoise en 1660 et dut sa renommée à Tycho BRAHE, qui y vécut et y étudia de 1575 à 1598. Voyages Explorations Marine Danemark.

Die Hinfahrt führte über Greenwich, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Amsterdam, Utrecht, das Emsland, Osnabrück zunächst nach Hannover, dem ein ausführlicher Abschnitt gewidmet ist. Über Hamburg und Flensburg reiste Vernon dann in sein Zielland, wo er sich vor allem für die Rechtsgeschichte interessierte. Auch Landeskundliches und gesellschaftliche Ereignisse werden teils ausführlich geschildert, so die Audienz beim dänischen König Friedrich IV. Die Karte zeigt die Insel Hven. - Als Verfasser wird der Gesandtschaftssekretär La Combe de Vrigny angenommen; andere Zuschreibungen gelten dem Baron L. A.
