Paperbound. Condition: Good. Description: Includes a frontis portrait plate with tissue guard; the title page is printed in red and black. BINDING/CONDITION: top edge gilt; plain white heavy paper covers, with a dust wrapper of a heavy decorative paper, printed with a light marbled background, gilt text and decoration on the front cover; this dust wrapper is bound at the spine; two small sets of holes are punched through the text block and the wrappers; these holes are threaded with a light blue ribbon, and tied in a bow. The bow is flattened with age, and faded; a few small stains on the rear cover, wear to the spine ends and corners; a light damp stain affects the bottom edge of the text throughout; no markings; the rear flap of the wrapper has been creased (the flaps are quite wide). In general: Good condition. 7.5 inches tall by 5.25 wide. 126 pages.

Included is the famous baseball poem "CASEY AT THE BAT" by Ernest Lawrence Thayer. 1910; The Reilly & Britton Co.; Chicago. Color frontispiece with decorative floral end papers. Poetry categories include Baseball, Basketball, Bicycling, Football, Fishing, Golf, Hockey, Horse Racing, Archery, Tennis, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Wrestling, Yachting, and more. Poets include Walt Whitman, Andrew Lang, Thomas Hardy, Robert Browning, and more. The book measures 6 3/4" tall x 5 1/4" wide. Condition: Corner wear, and some shelf wear along the edges of the boards. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Pages 20, 21, 37, 51 each have a line of verse in parentheses, or with an arrow or vertical line next to a line of verse. Mild foxing at the lower-outer corners of pages 14-21, and 2 small light stains at the top of page 5. There is a name written in old ink handwriting on the front end paper. Overall the book is in Good condition.

Edge wear on all edges; corners and spine ends bumped. Top Corners are bumped to the point where the coardboard is exposed, and there is a .25" chip on the rear top edge. The cloth is slightly soiled, but remains very bright, as does the gilt. The interior is very bright and clean; the binding is excellent. For a book of this age it is in a very good state, and is not fragile at all.
