[2] + 16pp, 8vo. In wraps on the front cover of which is printed the title-page, with a 'Note' by Wilder on the reverse. Sixteen pages of text with drop-head title: 'Churches and Ministers Considered'. In poor condition, aged and worn. Wilder's note explains his motive for writing: 'I am nearly four-score years of age - my life covering almost three generations. My opportunities for observation in city and country, North, South, East, and West, have been abundant. Conscious that my days are few, I could not depart without putting on record my convictions touching matters of gravest moment concerning the Church of God. My testimony, feeble at the best, yet such as it is, will be found in the following pages. The simple hope that I might do something to remedy the evils felt and deplored, has been my only motive in writing. If these pages shall arrest the attention of good men - ministers and laymen - and set them to search out the causes, and to find the cure for so many feeble pastorates and wasting congregations, I shall be more than satisfied.' Six copies on OCLC WorldCat and now scarce.
