André-Victor Cornil (17 June 1837 13 April 1908) was a French pathologist , histologist and politician, he made important contributions in the fields of bacteriology , histology and microscopic anatomy. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1876, serving until 1882. In 1885 Cornil was elected a senator and served until 1903. Size: 10" x 12.75".

Babes, obwohl als zweiter Autor genannt, war zweifellos der bedeutendere von beiden. Er arbeitete bei Virchow und Koch in Berlin, bei Pasteur studierte er dessen Schutzimpfungsmethode gegen Hundswut. 1885 wurde er Professor der pathologischen Histologie an der Budapester Universität. 'Er studirte das Verhalten der Tuberkelbazillen zum Gewebe; er war einer der Ersten, welche im Urin des Lebenden Tuberkelbazillen fanden; er wies nach, das die Leprabazillen auf dem Wege der inneren Haarwurzelscheide die unversehrte Epidermis durchwandern' (H./H.). Cornil lehrte seit 1869 an der med. Fakultät der Universität Paris und wurde 1870 Arzt am Hôp. de Lourcine. Sprache: Französisch.
