Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. "This 9.25 x 13.5 inch, 31 page hardcover book is the beautiful 1937 printing of this title by the Grabhorn Press. This copy, one of 325 issued for the Book Club of California, is in fine condition, with virtually no time or handling wear showing to the blue paper covers over beige-cloth spine strip. The paper labels on front panel and spine are pristine, showing no wear or fading to the gilt lettering. The interior text shows no markings or damage and includes the prospectus from the Book Club of California announcing this "Christmas Publication" from the Grabhorn Press. The prospectus is signed by Alfred Sutro as President, and Alfred M. Bender, Chairman Publication Committee. This copy is striking for its condition and for its design and printing quality, with 31 numbered pages printing the letters from Coit while he was a resident of San Francisco in 1849 - 1852. The numbered pages are followed by eight full-page reproductions of Coit's fine sketches of San Francisco, each sketch accompanied by a separate page describing the picture itself. This is a beautiful copy of this title and surely a high representative of quality from the Grabhorn Press.".
