The front free end paper is missing, the binding is loose, edges of the boards are worn, there is a previous owner's name on the half title page, page 31/32 has been torn out and is loose, there is a tear on page 49/50, page 55/56 with the rear free end paper are detached but present. Pictorial boards backed in brown cloth, with cover illustration of 2 young girls reading on a couch, a third standing and holding a cat, flocked with large floral curtains, paper lanterns, and a decorative fan. Some soiling to boards and spine, with chipping to spine ends, small split to cloth at front joint. Corners bumped. Binding shaken, front hinge split but holding. Free endpapers both heavily browned, with some foxing to prelims. Verses by Eliza Keary, accompanied by bright, floral text decorations and full page chromolithographic plates. Some leaves have ghosting opposite plates, and others were previously stuck to the facing page, leaving small bits of paper residue adhered to illustrations. Charmingly illustrated poems for children.

Condition: Used - Good. Good hardback. First Edition. Undated but c. 1890 with colour illustrations and decorations; author not stated; tightly bound in pictorial boards and brown cloth spine with a bit of wear to edges and corners. Page fore-edges yellowed with a little foxing. Internally, hinges cracked; some pale foxing and discolouration to most pages but text and pictures still clear - still an attractive book; overall, a good copy. Used - Good. Good hardback.
