This book contains the journal of Medorem Crawford (1819-1893) who was born in New York and traveled to Oregon as a member of one of the earliest pioneering groups to cross the Plains. He became a member of the Legislature of Provisional Government of Oregon from 1847-1849. Crawford was elected to State Legislature in 1860. Other accounts in connection with Crawford's journal are added in this edition as well.
