VD 16, C 6203. - Jacques Cujas (latinisiert Cuiacus oder Cuiacius), einer der ausgezeichnetsten Rechtslehrer des 16. Jh., einer der größten Rechtsgelehrten Frankreichs, geb. 1522 zu Toulouse, studierte unter dem berühmte…n Juristen Arnold Ferrier die Rechte, lehrte 1554 zu Cahors, 1555 zu Bourges, 1558 zu Valence, 1559 wieder zu Bourges. 1566 mit dem Titel eines herzoglich savoyischen Rats nach Turin berufen, kehrte er 1567 nach Valence zurück, wurde 1573 von Karl IX. zum Ehrenrat des Parlaments zu Grenoble ernannt und 1574 zum Wirklichen Parlamentsrat. 1575 ging er abermals nach Bourges, wo er 4. Okt. 1590 starb. Sein Hauptverdienst bestand darin, daß er eine auf Quellenstudium und Altertumskunde gestützte Auslegung anbahnte. - Pergament etwas angestaubt. Die Blätter allgemein in sehr guter Erhaltung, nur sehr wenige etwas fingerfleckig. Titelblatt mit Randabriß (daher verso, sprich rückseitig mit Textverlust). - Im Gesamteindruck gut erhaltene Ausgabe. - *** 93 Jahre Antiquariat Arno Adler (1932-204) ***.

Antica nota di possesso manoscritta al frontespizio. Minime mende alla legatura, qualche macchietta, sporadiche fioriture, lievi aloni sparsi (più insistenti al margine…esterno delle carte finali). Esemplare nel complesso in buono stato di conservazione. Il celebre giureconsulto tolosano Jacques Cujas (1522-1590), massimo esegeta della giurisprudenza culta, lavorò al superamento della tradizione italiana del commentario e allo spostamento in Francia dell'asse portante della scienza giuridica europea. Insegnò a Tolosa, Cahors, Bourges, Valenza e Torino e fu maestro di straordinari giuristi ed intellettuali del tempo, fra cui Scaligero, Loisel e Pithou. Questa rara edizione ginevrina raccoglie i commentari ai titoli del Digesto âDe regulis iurisâ e âDe verborum significationeâ, ai quatttro libri delle Istituzioni e infine ai Frammenti di Paolo e alle Sentenze di Paolo.
