Ende der 1880er Jahre gemeinsam mit Eduard Anderson Aufbau der Künstlerkolonie Nidden auf der Kurischen Nehrung. Führte unter anderen auch Max Pechstein 1909 nach Nidden. Mitglied der Berliner Secession. März 1870 in Culm - 29. Juli 1917 in Frankreich) war ein deutscher Maler, Illustrator und Radierer. In Frankreich verlor er durch eine Detonation beide Hände und nahm sich bald darauf das Leben.

In der Platte mit dem Monogamm. Am Unterrand typographisch bezeichnet. Druck in Braun mit Plattenton auf gelblichem leichten Karton. Am Porträt zeigt den 1907 bereits verstorbenen Malerkollegen Adolf von Menzel (1815-1905) vor einem Gemälde, das in der oberen linken Ecke nur angechnitten zu sehen ist. - Der deutsche Maler, Illustrator und Zeichner Ernst Bischoff-Culm studierte er an der Kunstakademie Königsberg bei Carl Steffeck und Georg Knorr sowie an der Königlichen Akademie der Künste bei Hugo Vogel und Joseph Scheurenberg. Nach einem Studienaufenthalt in Paris kehrte er nach Berlin zurück. Mit Eduard Anderson beteiligte er sich Ende der 1880er Jahre am Aufbau der Künstlerkolonie Nidden. Er führte fortan ein Künsterleben zwischen Nidden und Berlin. Durch Ausstellungen seiner Arbeiten in Berlin wurde wohl auch Max Pechstein, der 1909 dorthin kam, auf Nidden aufmerksam. Im Ersten Weltkrieg war Bischoff-Culm an der Front, in dieser Zeit entstanden auch Themen des Krieges. 1917 verlor Bischof-Culm beide Hände im Krieg. - Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten, winziger Einriss an der linken Blattkante.
