The author explores this movement, comparing it to mysticismâs historical counterparts in Europe and the East. This book explains that this latest strain of mysticism is unique in that it rejects fatalism and instead teaches that humans have the power to shape their own reality through their willpower. The author goes on to explain that these mystics believe the nature of humans is not physical or psychical, but spiritual, and that knowledge of this truth is the cure for all ills. The book also explores the idea that the Universe is fundamentally mental, and that physical matter is actually a mental projection. This book engages deeply with the most profound questions of existence and represents an important new development in the field of mysticism. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Overall, in very good condition. Adela Curtis (1864-1960) was the leader of a group known informally as the 'White Ladies' Curtis was a Christian, vegetarian teetotaller, pioneer of self-sufficiency and a keen organic gardener. She was born in Japan and came to England in 1868. Although a committed Christian she was influenced by the American New Thought movement and Eastern religions. Around 1907 she established her first spiritual centre, the school of Silence in Kensington, London, and later the Order of Silence Centre in Coldash, Berkshire, a utopian self-sufficient farm and children's school. In May 1921 Adela Curtis retired to Burton Bradstock to recuperate from an illness. She purchased 17 acres from the Pitt-Rivers estate to establish a spiritual centre. She was joined by former students from London and Coldash. They were styled 'nuns' and became known locally as the White Ladies as they wore white habits. They lead a simple life as the community of Christian Contemplatives - there are memorial plaques in the chapel at Othona, West Dorset.
