With an extensive publisher's catalogue to the rear of each volume. Collated, complete with thirty two tinted full page plates to each volume. With a small misprint to 'list of illustrations' to volume II, with the plate 'In a moment I had it in my arms' facing page 190, not page 100. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with pictorial gilt and black stamped design to front boards. Externally excellent, with slight fading to spines and bumping to extremities. The odd small marks to boards. Prior owner's bookplate tipped to front pastedown. Front hinges slightly split and strained. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities but bright and clean, with the odd spot. Heavy spotting to first and last few pages. Pages occasional creased from previous dog-earing to volume VIII.
