    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. HOARE Sir Richard Colt 1758-1838 (illustrator). First Edition. Small pocket tour of Chester in contemporary red morocco in a wallet style with a flap to close. Internally, marbled endpapers, frontis, [3], (iv-xii), [1], (ii-iv), [1], 4-179 pp, [1] adverts, 4 pls (including 1 hand coloured topographical scene & 3 (of 4?) copper engraved maps), printing is clear & the borders are wide, ink ownership name to ffep & tp (Maria Barnes 1809. Emma Whittle), a.e.g. Uncommon. (84*54 mm). Broster, who despite having a business in Bangor, continued to print and publish at Chester, with his son. They issued Tour from Chester through North Wales in 1802, whilst at least two Welsh books were issued by them in 1807. Authorship attributed in BM 251:901, 27:687, there were other editions in 1805 and 1814. Uncommon, copies of this ed at BL, NLW and Cardiff only. (Not in Welsh).

In full black long grained contemporary morocco, gilt edge tooling, corners and edges rubbed. Spine, titles and tooling in gilt, edges lightly bumped and worn. Internally, board edges and turn-ins with gilt tooling, marbled endpapers, a.e.g, frontis, [3], (iv-xii), [1], (ii-iv), [1], 4-179 pp, [1] adverts, 4 pls (includes 3 maps), some light browning throughout. 8.5*5 mmA very rare item, only 1 at auction in 40 years. A very attractive item. Authorship attributed in BM 251:901, 27:687, there were other editions in 1805 and 1814. Uncommon, copies of this ed at BL, NLW and Cardiff only. (Not in Welsh).
