Hosting Life explored their unique approach to link ecosystem and architecture and their research and practical implementation of this connection. In this new series of books, ChartierDalix now presents its entire body of work, beginning with the volume covering the years 2016 to 2021. It showcases 11 designs they have realised in Paris and the surrounding area, all described in detail with texts, photographs and plans. The selection includes projects such as the transformation of the former Lourcine barracks into the new Universite de Droit-Paris I, which was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award and honoured with the Frame Award 2020, a number of office and commercial structures, the transformation of the Renault Design Center in Guyancourt, as well as several designs for private and social housing. AUTHORS: Frederic Chartier holds an architecture degree from the Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Architecture Paris-Malaquais and is co-founder of ChartierDalix in Paris. Pascale Dalix is a graduate of Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Architecture de Paris-Val de Seine (formerly Ecole d'Architecture Paris-Villemin) and a founding partner of ChartierDalix in Paris. The photographer Myr Muratet, who spent several weeks living there, offers us an authentic reportage of the building's appropriation by its new inhabitants - a portrait of what happens once the architects have packed up and gone home. Its users' behaviour, habits, and adaptations confirm or subvert the designers' intentions. As the building weighs anchor in its neighbourhood, not only does the alchemy of this process resonate in the immediate surroundings, but also further afield, in the wake of individual users' destinies. Inquisitive visitor Sébastien Marot sets sail on an urban and architectural cruise, exploring the physical, social, and historical flux that is the undercurrent of this built reality.
