Brandt ha inoltre seguito un'ampia formazione in danza classica, movimento, recitazione e canto sia a Londra che a Copenaghen. Le opere di Brandt sono influenzate dalla body art femminista degli anni Settanta, dalla teoria del trauma, dagli studi sulla mascolinità. Il corpo maschile ferito è il materiale più vitale di Brandt, sia nelle fotografie e nei lavori video performativi diretti, sia nella realizzazione di opere artigianali in una vasta gamma di materiali.No Safe Place affronta il tema del trauma e del processo di guarigione a partire dall'esperienza personale dell'artista che è stato oggetto di un attacco violento a Roma nel 2020. Attraverso testi, conversazioni e le stesse opere d'arte di Brandt, si chiede perché sembra esserci l'aspettativa sociale che una persona guarisca per forza, e come la società spesso ponga l'accento sugli autori di crimini violenti piuttosto che sulle vittime.
