Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Bette Davis (illustrator). 1st Edition. This offering is a vintage copy of The First Book of Glass written by Sam and Beryl Epstein and illustrated with three-color illustrations drawn by Bette Davis. The book was published by Franklin Watts, Inc. in 1955, and is a stated First Printing. It IS an ex-library copy in good condition and does not have a dust jacket. The book is 7 1/4" by 8 1/2" and has 65 pages with an Index, a " Words glass-makers use" section, and three-color illustrations throughout. This is more an adult book than a children's book (eighth grade reading level perhaps) . . . and would make a nice, helpful gift to yourself, or a friend as an introduction to glass and glass making. It's in good shape but for some library markings! Thank you!

Blue Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Beryl Irving & Cecil Trew (illustrator). Jacket has vertical tears to each spine edge from the bottom, pages clean, boards and binding very good. Many books have been written on the collecting of antiques; yet, as one would expect from the author, this one is different. It sets out to summarize not only the different sorts of 'collecting' but to review the different sorts of collectors; collectors of long ago; collectors of more recent times and collectors of today. With the exception of postage stamps and match-box lids it covers just about the whole field - furniture, pictures, prints, china, silver, clocks, glass, sheffield plate, jade, chessmen, battersea enamels, faience, and a multitude of by-ways of the connoisseur's world.
