Orig…inally titled Two Lovers and One Orange Moon, it was first performed by Stetson's Glee Club, then introduced by Rosemary Clooney in 1957. It reached #25 on the Billboard charts, and topped New York radio for eight weeks. The cover features a portrait of Clooney promoting her recording, while the music presents a complete piano/vocal arrangement with lyrics and guitar chord symbols. Published by the influential Redd Evans Music Company, this is an appealing example of mid-century American popular music and the marketing of recording artists through commercial sheet music. Anastasia Delores Rohde Libbey (1919 - 1988), known professionally as Dee Libbey, was an American composer and lyricist active in the mid-20th century, blending classical composition with popular music. She studied at Stetson University under Dr. William Duckwitz, later advanced with Leo Sowerby and on a scholarship with Nadia Boulanger at the Fontainebleau School in France. Libbey was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and won an ASCAP cash award in 1961, shared with Leonard Bernstein and Gian-Carlo Menotti Rosemary Clooney (1928-2002) was one of America's most celebrated traditional pop vocalists, enjoying major success throughout the 1950s with Columbia Records. Her recordings of standards, jazz, and popular songs continue to attract collectors, and sheet music bearing her image remains highly collectible.
