A lively calypso-inspired popular song from the late 1950s, Mangos was introduced by Rosemary Clooney, whose Columbia Records recording capitalized on America's growing fascination with Caribbean rhythms during the calypso craze that followed Harry Belafonte's enormous success. Originally titled Two Lovers and One Orange Moon, it was first performed by Stetson's Glee Club, then introduced by Rosemary Clooney in 1957. It reached #25 on the Billboard charts, and topped New York radio for eight weeks. The cover features a portrait of Clooney promoting her recording, while the music presents a complete piano/vocal arrangement with lyrics and guitar chord symbols. Published by the influential Redd Evans Music Company, this is an appealing example of mid-century American popular music and the marketing of recording artists through commercial sheet music. This copy remains in Very Good+ condition. Covers are clean and bright with strong red printing and an attractive Rosemary Clooney portrait. Light rubbing, minor edge wear, and gentle corner creasing are present, with a small crease at the upper left corner and light handling wear consistent with age. Interior pages are clean and complete with no writing, markings, tears, or detached leaves observed. Copyright page confirms 1957 publication by Redd Evans Music Company. The rear cover carries the publisher's catalog of contemporary popular songs. Sid Wayne (1922-1991) was a prolific American lyricist whose songs were recorded by Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, and Elvis Presley. His work spans traditional pop, novelty songs, and television themes, making him a recognizable figure in mid-century American songwriting. Anastasia Delores Rohde Libbey (1919 - 1988), known professionally as Dee Libbey, was an American composer and lyricist active in the mid-20th century, blending classical composition with popular music. She studied at Stetson University under Dr. William Duckwitz, later advanced with Leo Sowerby and on a scholarship with Nadia Boulanger at the Fontainebleau School in France. Libbey was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and won an ASCAP cash award in 1961, shared with Leonard Bernstein and Gian-Carlo Menotti Rosemary Clooney (1928-2002) was one of America's most celebrated traditional pop vocalists, enjoying major success throughout the 1950s with Columbia Records.
