André-Thomas rapporte une observation anatomo-clinique très détaillée et bien illustrée concernant une femme qui présentait une intoxication éthylique et dont l'autopsie révéla des lésions surprenantes. Ce syndrome anatomo-clinique nouvellement décrit recevra ensuite d'autres dénominations (atrophie cérebelleuse tardive à prédominance corticale, atrophie cérebelleuse corticale tardive, "chronic progressive degeneration of the superior cerebellar cortex", "cerebelloolivary atrophy". It was so well conceived and noteworthy that they received the Montyon prize for their work on this subject in 1910. Joseph Jules Dejerine is best known for his many contributions to organic neurology, but he also was greatly interested in functional nervous disorders and developed several psychotherapeutic ideas that he was able to apply successfully.
