René et Cie,(235x160),1847. 2 volumes in-8, demi-chagrin violet, dos orné, tranches mouchetées (Reliure de l'époque), illustré de 8 lithographies et 2 cartes , un vocabulaire Zoulou à la fin du 1er tome ainsi qu une liste des insectes , diptères ramenés pour la collection du muséum naturel de Paris,rousseurs éparses. l auteur embarqua comme marin à l'âge de 16 ans et navigua dans le nord de l'Europe, au Sénégal et aux Antilles. Il commença ses voyages d'explorations à 23 ans, appareillant du port de Bordeaux vers le cap de Bonne-Espérance, pour explorer l'Afrique Australe , après sa 3éme expédition en 1844, il regagna la France avec toutes les richesses accumulées au cours d'un voyage qu'il relata dans son livre . En 1850, il partit pour un nouveau voyage, en Afrique Occidentale mais mourut pendant la traversée. Adulphe Delegorgue rapporta de ses voyages une importante documentation et des informations sur nature entre le 30e et le 23eparallèles sud mais également sur la vie des populations autochtones .
