Very good condition overall, with clean blue boards, a sound and tight binding, and a bright, unmarked text block showing only the light toning typical of the period. The dust jacket is complete and retai…ns strong color; moderate edge wear is present along the spine ends and corners, with several small chips and light creasing to the upper margins. Surfaces show minor rubbing but no significant soiling, and the jacket remains attractive and well preserved for a mid-1960s Heinemann issue. The front free endpaper carries a contemporaneous 1966 birthday inscription to "Tony," reflecting this copy's provenance from the personal library of Tony Walton. Although not an authorial inscription, the association adds interest for collectors of theatre and design history, especially given Craig's influence on later scenographic practice. A solid, clean, and appealing jacketed example of the first English edition, uncommon in this condition.
