Add to basket28 x 24cm. Hardcover in cloth (no dustjacket, as issued), 112pp. Published in a limited edition of 500, of which this is numbered 40. Signed and inscribed on the title page by the artist to Alistair (i.e. art writer Alistair Hicks). The artist's first published monograph uses Hogarth-era engravings and Regency grotesques to query the excesses of the modern age; the books opens with the paradoxical "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" quotation from Charles Dickens 'A Tale of Two Cities', and is prefaced by a short introduction by Nicholas Cullinan. Tom Denman's essay 'Charlie Billingham's Caricatures of Caricature' appears later in the book interspersed with colour reproductions. Very good condition.
