Condition: Very Good, No Jacket. blue cloth with bright gilt lettering within gilt bands on spine, the preface of the book explains the complexity of genralogical work on the property that became Sussex County orderered by William Penn in 1683. prior 1680 was selected as starting date because the earlier colonial proprieters (Sweden, Dutch and the Duke of York did not have record systems that preserved wills and probate records. Further complications occur occur through some years after 1680 because of the argue- ments between William Penn and Lord Baltimore about the location of the border between DE and MD. which wasn't settled untill the acceptance of the Mason-Dixon line in 1775 but some residents particularly in the South and Southwestern parts of Sussex County kept registering and paying taxes in the MD counties that overlapped with Sussex County before the agreement. small amount of yellow highlighting that does not creatre problems wiuth text, 310 pages plus an 87 page index.
