Dopo l'entrata in vigore della tariffa dell'87, nelle proprietà condotte in proprio riconvertì le colture da vitivinicole in cerealicole. Con la rotazione sessennale e la semina "sopra sovesci di sulla" ottenne ottimi risultati, che illustrò in questo scritto.

In appendice un dettagliato Catalogo dei Cotoni Italiani inviati all'Esposizione Internazionale del 1862 (con indicazione della provenienza, varietà, produttore, qualità, prezzo medio); l'apparato iconografico si compone di due tavole litografiche in nero (Kell Bross Lithographers) raffiguranti piante di GOSSYPIUM SIAMENSE e HERBACEUM, e una MAPPA DELLA REGIONE COTONIFERA D'ITALIA 1862.
