Ludwig Dill war Schüler Karl von Pilotys an der Münchner Kunstakademie, unternahm Studienreisen nach Italien, Südfrankreich und in die Schweiz, hielt sich häufig in Venedig und Chioggia auf und wurde mit seinen realistischen Bildern dieser Landschaft, darunter Im Hafen von Chioggia' (1884) und Auf der Giudecca' (1888), bekannt" (DBE). In München gehörte er 1883 zu den Mitbegründern der Sezession, als deren Präsident er bis 1899 amtierte. II. 1932). - [.] Von Bedeutung war seine Freundschaft mit Adolf Hölzel, der in Dachau eine Malschule unterhielt und den er dort 1892 erstmals besuchte. 1896 übersiedelte Ludwig Dill nach Dachau, wo er sich in der damaligen Holzgartenstrasse (heute: Ludwig-Dill-Straße) ein kleines Häuschen gekauft hatte. Zusammen mit Arthur Langhammer und Adolf Hölzel gründete er die Malerschule Neu-Dachau, was ihn zu einem der wichtigsten Vertreter der Künstlerkolonie Dachau machte [.]. 1899 ging Ludwig Dill als Lehrmeister nach Karlsruhe. Dort unterrichtete er von 1899 bis 1919 an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe. Der Künstler kehrte in den Sommermonaten immer wieder nach Dachau zurück, wo er sein Häuschen besaß [.] (Wikipedia). --- Alfred von Schrötter (1851-1935) studierte von 1872 bis 1877 an der Wiener Akademie der bildenden Künste Malerei bei Karl Mayer und August Eisenmenger, in der Folge war er zwei Jahre Schüler von Hans Canon und von 1879 studierte er in München an der dortigen Akademie bei Ludwig von Löfftz. 1897 übersiedelte er nach Dachau bei München, wo er zusammen mit Ludwig Dill, Adolf Hölzel und Arthur Langhammer zu einem namhaften Vertreter der Neu-Dachauer Richtung wurde. Als Gründungsmitglied der Münchner Secession entwickelte er gemeinsam mit Dill und Hölzel eine effiziente Methode des Kunstunterrichtes, die den Schülern größtmöglichen Freiraum zur eigenen Entfaltung gewähren sollte. Im Jahre 1900 wurde er als Leiter einer Meisterklasse für Malerei an die Zeichenakademie in Graz berufen, an der er bis 1923 als weithin bekannter und sehr geschätzter Lehrer wirkte. Alfred Schrötter, der dem Steiermärkischen Kunstverein als Ausschussmitglied angehörte, bildete eine ganze Generation steirischer Künstlerinnen und Künstler heran, u.a. Marie von Baselli, Norbertine Bresslern-Roth, Leo Grimm, Franz Hofer, Axl Leskoschek, Karl Mader, Paul Schmidtbauer, Fritz Silberbauer und Franz M. Zerlacher.
