[34] + 261pp., first and only edition, 27cm., with engraved vignette on title page, engraved head pieces and capitals, text in Latin, modern (early 20th cy.?) hardcover binding (spine in vellum, corners bumped), some occasional foxing and light staining, few small wormholes in first twelf pages (not affecting text), good condition, [Dom Malachia (born Joseph-Dominique) d'Inguimbert was a French Cistercian monk, born in 1683 and died in 1757, in Carpentras. After his studies in France, he left for Italy (1709-1735). In 1735 he was appointed bishop of Carpentras ; he moved back there taking with him his large library. He expanded his collection to more than 25.000 volumes and allowed the public to access it from 1745. His "library-museum" still exists and is now called the "Inguimbertine" in honour of its founder. His book "Specimen Catholicae." is one of his first own publications and contains among others the following chapters: Deus exsistit, Deus universis rebus summa beneficentia prospicit, Humanae Mentis immortalitas demonstratur], rare, R119845.

Belle lettre de 4 feuillets avec marque postale ARMEE D'ALLEMAGNE de Joseph Bernard d'Ingimbert, chevalier de l'ordre royal et militaire de Saint Louis né à Carpentras le 20 août 1717, datée de Sundershausen le 22 novembre 1760 à son ami le capitaine de Lantianÿ résidant à Carpentras. Il donne des nouvelles de l'armée et du marquis de Rochechouart qui a aménagé son quartier général , les troupes de Provence et Aquitaine sont arrivées à Münden. Lettre écrite quelques jours après la victoire française de Rhadern.

Condition: Très bon. un feuillet in 8° d'une attestation datée de 1741 du curé de l'église cathédrale et paroissiale de Carpentras relative à la mort ab intesta de Laurent Justinien Cabridel fils. Avec confirmation en latin signée par l'évêque de Carpentras avec son cachet à froid. Joseph Dominique d'Inguimbert dota Carpentras d'une riche bibliothèque musée connue sous le nom de bibliothèque Inguimbertine. Un petit trou au niveau du cachet.
