First edition of Dix's famous plea to the New Jersey legislature to establish a state hospital. "I come to solicit your attention to the condition and necessities of Idiots, Epileptics, and the Insane poor in the State of New Jersey.'' A second edition of Dix's moving address appeared later in the year. Dix's efforts were successful, and a state asylum was erected in Trenton; today a part of that facility bears her name.
