Contains twenty-four plates with eighty-seven embroidery patterns containing temporary Turkish works, including the Balkan peninsula and various provinces of the Ottoman Empire. The patterns presented are from the collections of Dollfus-Mieg & Cie., the Museum for Art and Industry, Vienna, the Art and Craft Museums in Budapest and Dresden, the Düsseldorf Art Museum, the Museum für Volkskunde in Vienna, the Ethnographical Museum in Belgrade, and the State Museum in Sarajevo. The embroideries on linen from Serbia Bosnia, Herzegovina and Albania are exclusively produced with counted threads, while those from Macedonia and Asia Minor are produced after patterns, as are the gilt embroideries on linen, cloth or velvet. The color embroideries in chain stitch are exclusively used as embellishments for purses. In the introduction an overview of the collection is provided, followed by a catalog with detailed descriptions of each of the pieces presented in the catalog. Illustrated with twenty-four color reproductions of eighty-seven embroideries, followed by drawings to be used to enlarge or reduce the size of the respective pieces. A page with directions for the latter process precedes the 14 pages of drawings. Four pages with advertisements of the company Dollfus-Mieg & Cie. at rear. Text in German. Some wear along edges of wraps, small chips and some creasing, mostly on front cover. Here also a vertical bend in the center. Stamp with Hebrew lettering at right upper corner of title page. Wraps in overall good-, interior in very good condition.
