Studien hingezogen gefühlt und wurde 1874, noch als Student, zum Assistenten von Scheuthauer ernannt. 1876 wendete er sich der Chir. zu und wurde in der Klinik von Kovács Operationszögling und 1877 ebendaselbst Assistent. Die Okkupation Bosniens machte er als Oberarzt eines Infant.-Reg. mit und leitete auch nach der Einnahme Serajewos eine Zeit lang eine chir. Abteilung des Milit.-Spitales daselbst. Aus dem Feldzuge zurückgekehrt, wendete er sich der Orthopädie zu. 1882 trat er eine wissenschaftl. Reise an, besuchte die orthopäd. Anstalten und chir. Kliniken Deutschlands, Frankreichs und Englands und veröffentlichte seine Erfahrungen in Briefen (Orvosi Hetil., 1882). In demselben Jahre noch habilitierte er sich als Dozent für Orthopädie an der Budapester Universität. 1883 gründete er eine orthopäd. Privatheilanstalt in Budapest und in demselben Jahre ein Ambulatorium für an Verkrümmungen leidende Arme. Die Anstalt blühte rasch empor und bietet ein reiches Material zu seinen Vorträgen über Orthopädie, zu orthop. Operationen und zum prakt. Unterricht in der Massage. 1889 wurde er zum Chefarzt der chirurg. Abteilung im Spital der barmherzigen Brüder in Budapest, 1891 zum Prof. e. o. ernannt, 1893 wurden ihm auf der internen Klinik Kétly's die visceral, chirurg. Fälle übertragen. 1895 wurde seine Lehrberechtigung auf die ganze Chirurgie erweitert. 1897 wurde er zum Nachfolger Kovács vom Professorenkollegium einstimmig zunächst vertretungsweise berufen und 1898 definitiv zum ord. ö. Professor und Direktor der chir. Klinik bestätigt. Die Klinik verfügt über 86 Betten nebst freier Auswahl der Krankenaufnahme aus einem grossen Ambulatorium." *** Vgl.
