Add to basketALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (New, Hardcover, 2002). (1997) 2002 2nd edition. 8vo (156 x 236mm). Pp71. B/w photographs. Blue cloth with gilt spine-title & gilt salmon fly motif to upper board. Issued without a dust-wrapper. Fine unread copy. The author, elderly when she wrote this book, tells the story of a lifetime of salmon fishing with her husband, Charlie Barnes. Reminiscences of flyfishing for Atlantic salmon on the Grand Cascapedia and Mirimichi, on the Alta in Norway, in Iceland and Ireland, and on the Cassley, Spey, Thurso and Garry in Scotland, and on the George River in the Canadian Arctic. Charlie died in 1980, but Phoebe continued fishing and travelling for several years more. "In 1992, at the age of 84, I gave up the sport completely." A fascinating account of privileged anglers whose experience spanned the highs and the lows of almost all of the twentieth century. Originally published privately by the author in 1997; the first edition quickly sold out, so she produced this second edition, in a run of about 1500 copies, in 2002. PBD was a published poet and writes very well. In fact I can see that I'm going to have to take this one home and read it! PREVIOUS PRICE GBP 15.00.
