A vintage piece of sheet music with a decorative cover designed by Fisher (?), showing the top part of a woman's face (the eyes); the bottom of her face is hidden by a fan. Small inset b/w photo of Eleanor Ott. Larger, older format measuring 10.5" x 13.75" with 6 pages. Front cover has a green background; back cover has the words to "The Ballad Beautiful". Minor tear along upper fold, otherwise in excellent condition with no marks of any kind.

Copy number '59' of an edition of 'less than' 150 copies printed on paper from the Magnani mill at Pescia, Italy. SIGNED by Molly and Bert Eastman who wrote and illustrated the book. The text is letterpress printed from hand-set Bembo type. Curwen patterned paper covered boards and endpapers, with cloth spine edges, hand bound using black thread over the board edges, printed paper label to the spine. 6¾" x 8¼", pp. [2, blank] [title page] [blank] [1-2] 3-21 [3, blank] [colophon] [1], with 16 illustrations. After getting a BA at Kirkland College, Julie Beinecke Stackpole studied bookbinding with Kathryn Gerlach in Vermont, in Ascona Switzerland, at the Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts in London, and with Roger Powell in England. She established her studio, the Merlicorn Bindery, on Nantucket in 1975, which she moved to Maine in 1985. She specializes in one-of-a-kind creative ne binding, all aspects of rare book restoration, and general hand bookbinding. Tight, bright and unmarred. Full leather binding in grey and dark sea-green goatskins; onlays of various leathers, all embossed with lino-cuts (representing various elements of water-sea, clouds, rain, streams, waves, currents); in blind lettering at spine; sewn on raised bands, endpages marbled by the binder, leather hinges, colored topstain, hand-sewn headbands; matching archival box, hand-marbled title page (wave-form). 8vo. np.
