The interior leaves are supple, creamy-bright and completely clean, despite a few pale freckles to the top-edge; endpapers are a bold yellow. The original unclipped dust jacket ($15.00) shows a little toning with one tiny chip in the front corner. A lovely copy. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] Gleaned from the flaps: "The letters in this extraordinary work, provide a feast of pleasures---an insider's view of a half-century of intellectual life in England, on the Continent, and, extensively, in the United States. Huxley perhaps wrote at the very least ten thousand letters The present compilation represents therefore a choice of fewer than two-fifths of the known items. Predominating here is material selected for its biographical, literary, or philosophical qualities. Included are a variety of subjects---music, literature, zoology, psychology, medicine, painting, movies, theatre, and mystical religions---on which he writes with ease, often with passion, never without humanity." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage.
