Some light fading to the spines of some early volumes and minimal wear but a very good to near fine run of this important journal. The classic reference book on British birds until the much wider geographical coverage of The Birds of the Western Palearctic (1977-94). Harry Forbes Witherby (1873-1943), publisher in the family firm which specialised in bird books, and distinguished ornithologist, had earlier compiled a shorter Practical Handbook of British Birds, 1919-24.
