Vol 1, has a scratch to top cover. Spines, titles in gilt, edges bumped and lightly worn, small marks. Internally, yellow endpapers, half titles and tissue guarded frontispieces present, some light spotting, text blocks speckled red. (272*215 mm). Bonney, Thomas George, geologist, whose autobiography, Memories of a Long Life (1921), says little about his geological work, but records his impressive alpine achievements, gives fascinating insights into Cambridge life in the nineteenth century, and reveals the author as a tremendous trencherman with a seemingly inordinate interest in food. Overall very good hardbacks, publisher's original blue cloth binding with bright gold gilt lettering to the spines and front covers. Back covers blind stamped and all page edges are gold gilt.
