Boards are fully attached and secure. Inner hinges have minor surface splitting but are structurally firm. Text block is tight and square. Minor foxing to the title page. The 48 Goupil photogravure plates are generally clean but for slight occasional marginal foxing. Numerous wood engravings.; Folio 13" - 23" tall; vi, xvi, 136,[2] pages.

    Three Quarter Roan Leather. Condition: Poor. Not dated. Presumed issued in 1878. Three-quarter dark brown roan (sheep) leather with gilt lettering on the front cover and the spine. All edges gilt. Front board detached, spine is present but only attached on at the rear, moderate wear. 138 pages of text plus 48 steel engraved plates on heavyweight paper, plus 28 wood engraved plates & 85 text illustrations (illuminations, initials, and portraits), contents are in EXCELLENT condition.
