Pulls and rubbing to leather on spine and corners. Minor dampstaining to bottom corners of first few pages. Foxing, mostly to margins, of many pages including plates. Occasional smudge marks. Clean overall. Chipping and closed tears to front free endpaper. 187 pages plus plates. This is a heavy, folio sized volume and it may require an extra shipping fee.ART/062019.

Front board detached, spine is present but only attached on at the rear, moderate wear. 138 pages of text plus 48 steel engraved plates on heavyweight paper, plus 28 wood engraved plates & 85 text illustrations (illuminations, initials, and portraits), contents are in EXCELLENT condition. A showcase of the 1878 Paris exhibition that featured academic painting and sculpture of the period. Artists included are: E.A. Bayard, E.P. Berne-Bellecour, F.A. Bridgman, E. Burne-Jones, E. A one inch scar and a 1/2 inch scar on back vertical edge of spine. 16&1/2 by 11&1/4 inches. All edges gilt. 138 pages, 48 plates, but two are missing, and 112 other illustrations.

Flexible cloth. Condition: Fair. All plates and pages are loose. Plates have protective tissue paper. Several spines are faded. Some pages and plates have browining around the edges. ; The copy was printed for Jane Carter of Cooperstown, NY. Each volume has 30-50 pages of text with integrated illustrations, and 10-20 plates, with protective tissue paper, all signed.
