Condition: Gut. Front cover with a small image of the art print, 1 side text, 1 side with art print fixed to one side, back side blank. Leaflet slightly bumped at the lower edge in the fold, art print very good. Text in Japanese and English. - Oban Nishikie - (Important Art Object) There is pathos in the elegant figure of this geisha crouched over her brazier. The inscription in the cartouche reads: I truly cannot think of you as a client. From my heart, I wear for you A soft han eri over my starched-collar night robe. Perhaps you find inviting my wifely pose? This note, though brief, explains itself. The feelings of a woman in love; the longing, a common dream of the professional woman, be the wife of her beloved; and the pathos of her lot as a hidden mistress - all are conveyed with telling simplicity. Eishosai Choki (worked 1789-1808) was, like Utamaro, a pupil of the painter Toriyama Sekien and used the name of Shiko in his youth. Condition: Gut. (Eishosai Choki, auch bekannt als Momokawa Choki, japanischer Künstler des Ukiyo-e, arbeitete zwischen 1786 und 1808, Schüler von Toriyama Sekien). Original-Holzschnitt, Medallion, von Eishosai Choki auf (geprägtem) Japanpapier, hier das Motiv "Kiyomizu Komachi", die Dichterin Ono no Komachi spricht im Garten des Tempels Kiyomizu-dera mit einem Priester, aus der 7-teiligen Serie "Keishiki Nana Komachi", mit einem Gedichtauszug im Randbereich. Blatt hinter Glas im schwarzen Kunststoffrahmen gerahmt. Nicht ausgerahmt. Blattgröße: 24,6 x 17,9 cm. Rahmengröße: 19,1 x 21,0 cm. Blatt leicht fleckig. Guter bis sehr guter Zustand.
