This book presents an insightful analysis of the relationship between Chinese and Japanese immigrants and their American hosts in the United States during the period from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. By delving into historical documents and drawing on primary source material, the author analyzes the legal, economic, and social challenges faced by Asian immigrants in the face of widespread prejudice. The book further examines how these early dynamics shaped the broader context of Asian-American relations and influenced the development of civil rights and immigration policies in the United States. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
