Patches. Single sheet approximately 5.5 inches by 4.25 inches printed on both sides, and folded in half. It had been stapled (now removed) to clear plastic sleeve together with a fabric emblem/patch that is approximately 3 inches in diameter. The outer circle says Lassen Volcanic Nat'l Pk. California. In the center there is a baseline of green trees, a mountain, and a volcanic eruption spewing upwards. Lassen Volcanic National Park is an American national park in northeastern California. The dominant feature of the park is Lassen Peak, the largest plug dome volcano in the world and the southernmost volcano in the Cascade Range. Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of the few areas where all four types of volcano can be foundâ"plug dome, shield, cinder cone, and stratovolcano. The source of heat for the volcanism in the Lassen area is subduction of the Gorda Plate diving below the North American Plate off the California coast. The area surrounding Lassen Peak is still active with boiling mud pots, fumaroles, and hot springs. Lassen Volcanic National Park started as two separate national monuments designated by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1907: Cinder Cone National Monument and Lassen Peak National Monument] Starting in May 1914 and lasting until 1917, a series of minor to major eruptions occurred on Lassen. Because of the eruptive activity and the area's stark volcanic beauty, Lassen Peak, Cinder Cone, and the area surrounding were established as a National Park on August 9, 1916. In 2021, the Dixie Fire burned portions of the National Park, becoming the largest wildfire in park history. B & B Enterprises is categorized under Embroidered Emblems. Records show it was established in 1962 and incorporated in Illinois. The produced a series of emblems associated with National and State Parks and areas of historic interest. Very good (patch), Good (folded sheet) Presumed First Edition, First printing of multiple originals.

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. PIETRASANTA, Silvestro.Symbola heroica.Amsterdam, apud Jansson-Vaesberge & H. Wetsten, 1682. 4to. [8]p + pp v - lxxx + 480p + [32]p. Engraved title-page by Corn. Galle after Peter Paul Rubens, frontispiece portrait of Cardinal Aloysius Carafa, 8 plates of arms and genealogies, 268 emblematic devices within scrollwork surround, 13 engraved figures in text, ornamental woodcut head- and tail-pieces and historiated initials. Bound in 19th century red morocco, spine richly gilt and inner dentelles, edges gilt (by R. Petit); joints and corners lightly rubbed. A collection of 264 emblems and devices formed by the Roman-born Jesuit. The work is divided into 9 books, depicting pictorial shields and devices with their mottoes, giving explanation of the symbolism. Heraldic badges of noble families and men of learning include the Medici, Gonzaga and Orsini. Illustrated are the significance of devices on coins and medals, ring inscriptions, seals and their uses, and forms of epigraphy; the author also explains methods of cryptic writing and numerology, the meaning and origin of emblematic images from myth, legend, nature and objects of everyday life, these often juxtaposed to provide a parable or exemplary interpretation. Of special interest is the device on page 146 which shows the magnetic clock of Father Francis Linus - the earliest recorded attempt to measure time by this means (see Physis 1969, p69). The frontispiece was engraved by Galle after a design by Rubens (now in the Institut Neerlandais, Paris; Collection Frits Lugt); the emblems were drawn by Andre Pauwels. The book was first published by Plantin in 1634; this is a re-issue of the original sheets with a new title-page added. A very good copy; a paper fault in blank margin of one leaf. Praz pp179, 455; Judson & Van de Velde, 'Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard: Book Illustrations and Title-pages', I, p289; Funck, 'Le livre belge a gravures', p379; Olschki, Choix, I, 353 (this copy - with bookseller's ticket inside frontcover).
