A new species, Cephalodiscus (Cephalodiscus) calciformis, is described in tropical waters (Madagascar). The characteristics of the coenecium, more or less regularly branched, are the following ones: absence of spines and peristomial filaments; ostium largely funnel-shaped (about 8 mm in diameter). The coenecial cavity is continu…ous through the colony. Zooids are brown and orange coloured an exhibit 6 pairs of yellowish arms, which have no end swellings but refractive beads. The diagnosis of the subgenus Cephalodiscus s.s. (= Demiothecia) is modified. New taxon: Cephalodiscus (Cephalodiscus) calciformis n. sp. 6 pp., 4 figs, stapled gr. 8.

Esta Monografía de la serie Fauna Ibérica está dedicada a los Phoronida y Brachiopoda y constituye la primera parte del estudio de los Lophophorata, celomados bentónicos sésiles, marinos (excepto los Briozoos Filactolemados, restringidos a las aguas dulces), presentes en las costas íbero-baleares. En ella se tratan 7 especies de foronídeos, agrupadas en 2 géneros, y 30 especies de braquiópodos agrupadas en 21 géneros, 14 familias, 5 órdenes y 3 subfilos. Se discuten y diagnostican también 2 especies de foronídeos y 5 de braquiópodos citadas en localidades próximas a la Península Ibérica.
