hardcover. Condition: Fair. Bound in burgundy cloth, wear is quite heavy with bare spots painted in quite well, spine appears to be repaired. Missing the original paperback cover, the first page is the title page, soiled and chipped on the edges. Binding has been sewed in, another repair. Corners chipped, edges soiled, tears and chips throughout, page 47-48 quite torn and repaired, page 31 missing lower right corner - 7.5" gone. 69 pages, as called for. Folio sized - 10x15". All orders packed with care, most dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011.

400 mm high x 530 mm width, leaf with small tears on the side, further in good condition. With Norway (Noorwegen), Sweden (Zweden), Russia (Rusland), Holland (Nederland), Belgium (Belgie), Prussia (Pruissen), France (Frankrijk), Italy (Italie), Austria (Oostenrijk), Turquie d'Asie et d'Europe and Spain (Spanje) represented as funny persons. Kaart van Europa in 1870, voor het uitbreken van de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Geeft een beeld van de verhoudingen in Europa tijdens de Frans-Duitse oorlog. Op de kaart is centraal de Pruisische /Duitse staatsman Otto van Bismarck te zien die Oostenrijk onder de knie houdt en zijn rechterhand op Nederland en België legt. België dreigt verpletterd te worden tussen Frankrijk en Pruisen. Zwitserland sluit de luiken en is afgebeeld als gesloten huis dat de conflicten aan zich voorbij laat gaan. Groot-Brittanië is neergezet als een oude vrouw die de handen vol heeft aan haar Ierse schoothondje en zich mede daardoor wat afzijdig houdt van het gekrakeel op het vasteland. Verder zie je Italië dat de Pruisische druk lijkt te kunnen weerstaan en Frankrijk dat zich met een bajonet probeert te verweren. Europees Turkije is afgebeeld als oude man met een waterpijp lurkende vrouw (Aziatisch Turkije) aan zijn voeten. Nederlandse druk naar het Franse ontwerp van Paul Hadol.
