The first edition of The Country Life Cookery Book, a very popular and one of the most respected cookery books of twentieth century Britain, written by prolific food writer Ambrose Heath. Published by Country Life in 1937.In the publisher's original red cloth, in the original pink unclipped dust wrapper. In the letter, M. Nicholson for Webster Evans, Editor of Country Life Books, answers a question from one Mr Scott regarding this work, and explains 'I am very sorry but we are unable to resolve your Eric Ravilious problem [.] if I could have consulted the original agreement, I could have found how many illustrations Ravilious was asked to do, but that is now impossible'.Organized by month, the book offers a seasonal approach to cooking, reflecting the rhythms of rural life and the availability of ingredients throughout the year.
