Draft script for the 1987 film. An early draft written solely by the creator of the story, Menno Meyjes. Loosely based on the 13th Century Children's Crusade, we follow the knight Robert Nerra (Eric Stoltz) as he joins up with King Richard the Lionheart (Neil Dickson) to protect orphan children from the Black Prince (Gabriel Byrne), a child slave trader. Shot on location in Hungary and Portugal. The penultimate film from Franklin J. Schaffner and his final film working with composer Jerry Goldsmith. They had previously worked together on "Planet of the Apes" (1968), "Patton" (1970), "Papillon" (1973) and "The Boys from Brazil" (1978). Wrapper integral with title page, with credits for screenwriter Menno Meyjes. 129 leaves, with last page of text numbered 128. Xerographic duplication, rectos only.
