Lagerspuren. - Englisch. - Vorworte von Kang Suk-Hun; Edgar Heim; Uwe Henrik Peters / u.a. ----- " . The 16th International Congress Psychotherapy: East & West (Integration of Psychotherapy) was an absolutely unusual, in many respects new and tremendously successful scientific event. The selection of speakers, the organization in general and in detail, the possibilities to talk with each other, the overwhelming hospitality and friendliness of all the staff and much more have contributed to the success of this unusual event. I had the impression that a new era of thorough investigation and discussion of the theme of the congress has started, an era of East-West integration. Personally it has stipulated me for further reading and perhaps writing about the relationship of German philosophy and psychotherapy to Tao and the Eastern literature and philosophy. This first paragraph so to say represents my first reaction after the end of the congress. In the few months since I have been thinking about the background of an opinion which obviously was not only my own, but was shared by many other participants. The European countries had been in touch with Eastern countries, as is well known, for hundreds of years, but the aims for a very long time were only economic resources, geographical knowledges and political chances. Religion, philosophy and literature found only a marginal interest if any. This attitude changed completely in the time of Enlightenment, when in central Europe new philosophies sprang up like flowers in the summer after rain. These philosophies gradually became independent from organised Christianity, as was the Church. Religions became to be seen as different ways to the same truth, no one being basically more worthy than the other. The philosophers - and right in the beginning together with them the psychotherapists (sometimes this made no difference) - became interested in Eastern religions, philosophies and literatures. Quite a number of them learnt to read Eastern languages, in order to be able to read the originals, and they have translated a part of their reading into Western languages. It is interesting, by the way, that reading was so much more pronounced compared to speaking. " (Uwe Henrik Peters) // INHALT (Auswahl) : JOO Eunsun, M.D., Hae Ahm Kim, M.D., David E. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book critically examines the Confucian political imagination and its influence on the contemporary Chinese dream of a powerful China. It views Confucianism as the ideological supplement to a powerful state that is challenging Western hegemony, and not as a political philosophy that need not concern us. Eske Møllgaard shows that Confucians, despite their traditionalist ways, have the will to transform the existing socio-ethical order. The volume discusses the central features of the Confucian political imaginary, the nature of Confucian discourse, Confucian revivals, Confucian humanism and civility, and the political ideal of the Great Unity. It concludes by considering if Confucianism can be universalized as an ideology in competition with liberal democracy.
