There is minor edge and spine wear, some fading. The papers here are somewhat deckle cut. Inside front and back end papers are slightly discolored, it looks due to a few newsprint or similar items that must have been kept here in the past, none was found within book. Gorgeous, hand colored doll photo is on the Frontispiece, with a caption written on the tissue which reads "Doll, 1870, owned by Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, United States National Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.". Appears to be a French Fashion doll. On Copyright page it is stated as a "First Printing". Has a preface written by author, Table of Contents and a full list of Illustrations which are very nice,detailed black and white photo's pictured throughout the text. Also has a full index to the back. The inside of this book is near fine condition, looks almost unread, and very clean.
