A fascinating assortment of news and articles which give a vivid picture of daily life in mid- and east Kent. It features numerous sensational news reports, police court cases, shipping, Kent coal field and hop growing items and market reports, in addition to railway timetables, classified advertisements, including those for male and female servants, and large pictorial advertisements for patent medicines and foods. Some noteworthy headlines in this volume include, A Huge Conger caught at Dungeness (illustrated), The Siege of Grove Farm (Sturry), Queer Mushrooms (which turn out to be a poacher's rabbit and snares), Disappearing Soap at Dover Co-op. and Sale of Contraband Tobacco at Dover.
