(1954), first edition, a bit tanned with long shallow chipping to the upper part of the spine and small chips to the spine edges of the covers at both the top and bottom. All the chipping at the bottom extends a bit into a few successive pages,…but given the fragility and scarcity of this item, it is not so off-putting. Furthermore, there are neat red check marks next to certain numbers within, else very good to very good plus copy in wraps. A large listing of 44 pages and 1019 items. A genuine Fantasy Press item as the printed logo on the rear wrap would indicate. Scarce. Probably missing from most if not all Fantasy Press collections.

Established by the surrealist artist Oscar Mellor in the early 1950s and associated with the University of Oxford Poetry Society, the Fantasy Press gained notability for its pivotal role in the emergence of 'Movement' poets, a group that went on to define post-war poetry in Great Britain. Fantasy Press published the early work of many poets associated with the Movement and became renowned for its Fantasy Poets +series. Included here are early works by Philip Larkin, Kingsley Amis, Geoffrey Hill, Thom Gunn, and Elizabeth Jennings amongst others.
