A contemporary review described Chapel Street Children (1900) as "a book which will delight children of any age," adding that Farmiloe is "second to none in her delineations of Cockney gutter imps". Original dark blue cloth with gilt titles. Page edges gilt. Prize inscription on fron endpaper and attractive contemporary bookplate on free endpaper. Hinges cracked but binding tight. Lucas from Elizabeth Turner's books for children first published in the first half of the 19th century. They teach various lessons such as, if girls and boys want a glass of beer they should ask for it politely, and don't eat unidentified red berries because it might kill you.
