Splendida legatura "à la cire" di produzione francese della fine del XVI secolo in piena pelle color testa di moro su piatti in cartone, dorso a tre nervi con titolo e fregi floreali in oro. Ai piatti cornice lineare in oro, una seconda cornice mosaicata in rosso su cui sono adagiati una serie di fregi a motivi floreali e geometrici, all'interno ricco decoro a intrecci geometrici e volute, di cui alcuni comparti riempiti da puntini dorati (decoro che ricorda molto le decorazioni realizzate per il bibliofilo Wotton), mosaicati e laccati in verde e giallo. Al centro, seminato da puntini dorati, uno scudo a forma ellittica attraversato da una banda obliqua al cui interno sono adagiati tre gigli. Nell'insieme prevalgono i colori verde rosso e giallo. Piccole usure agi angoli ma priva di restauri. Al frontespizio mancanza alle due estremità della marca tipografica e parte inferiore, che lede leggermente alcune parole dell'editore, anticamente rimarginato, VINCENZO Ferreri (Ferrer), santo. Nacque nel 1350 a Valenza. Il 5 febbraio 1367 prese l'abito domenicano. San Vincenzo difese il papa d'Avignone, Clemente VII, contro il papa di Roma, Urbano VI. Dopo una malattia e la guarigione prodigiosa avvenuta il 3 ottobre 1398, incominciò la sua missione di "legato a latere Christi", datagli ufficialmente da Cristo alla presenza di San Domenico e di San Francesco. Evangelizzò il mezzogiorno della Francia; dal 1401 al 1403 predicò nel Delfinato, in Savoia e nelle valli delle Alpi, contro gli eretici: valdesi, catari, ecc. La stessa attività svolse poi nel Monferrato, in tutto il Piemonte e in Lombardia. Ad Alessandria s'incontrò con S. Bernardino da Siena. Fu direttore spirituale della B. Margherita di Savoia (morta nel 1464). Ripassò quindi le Alpi e predicò per la Francia e la Spagna. Suo tema preferito e particolare era questo: che egli fosse l'angelo dell'Apocalisse, preannunziato da San Giovanni; venuto, per l'appunto, ad annunziare l'imminenza del Giudizio Universale. Fece molto per far terminare il grande scisma; ma si rifiutò di prendere parte al concilio di Costanza. Morì sull'ora di vespro, il 5 aprile 1419 a Vannes in Bretagna. La sua tomba divenne meta di pellegrinaggi e sede di prodigi. Il 3 giugno 1455 Callisto II lo dichiarò santo; e la canonizzazione ebbe luogo il 29 dello stesso mese.
