An den Publizisten und Politiker Ignaz Kuranda (1811-1884): "Wiewohl es fast scheint, als ob die galizische Frage nicht mehr zur Sprache kommen sollte, übersende ich beiliegendes Heft, welches vielleicht nicht ganz ohne Werth für die Angelegenheit und auch sonst von einigem Interesse sein dürfte [.]". - Ficker trat als Direktor der administrativen Statistik in das österreichische Handelsministerium ein, dessen Leitung er 1864 auch übernahm. 1870 wechselte er als Ministerialrat in das Ministerium für Kultus und Unterricht; als Referent für Gymnasien und Realschulen sowie Mitarbeiter an der Volksschulordnung erwarb er sich Verdienste um das Schulwesen; 1873 wurde Ficker, der u. a. wirkliches Mitglied der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften war, Sektionschef und Präsident der Statistischen Zentralkommission. - Ignaz Kuranda war Gründer der liberalen Wochenschrift "Der Grenzbote" und nach langjähriger politischer Tätigkeit in Deutschland seit 1861 Mitglied des niederösterreichischen Landtags, des Reichsrats sowie zeitweise auch des Wiener Stadtrats. 1872 wurde er Präsident der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde und Vizepräsident der "Israelitischen Allianz" in Wien. - Ohne die erwähnte Beilage; die Identifikation des Adressaten an Hand eines Bleistiftvermerks am linken oberen Blattrand der Recto-Seite.
